EB Hu Yibi

胡一毕

Since graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Yibi enjoyed a successful career in Shanghai Motion Magic Digital Studios, where he was co-managing its motion graphics studio. In 2003, he began his voyage in the UK. He first briefly joined BskyB’s sport design team after completing his MA degree in 2005. Then he started working as a designer and animator for UK’s leading TV broadcast design company Redbee Meida (formerly BBC Broadcast) till now. He has created many short animations, title sequences, content and on air idents across brands such as BBC, BSkyB, Shell, UKTV, RTE, CCTV, Disney, Nick UK and BAFTA amongst many others.

However, Yibi’s passion is always lying in exploring the frontier of visual art and story telling. His short films can be seen in numerous film and animation festivals cross the world. His short film KEG was a 2005 Adobe Design Achievement Awards winner. In 2006 Yibi was invited to compete in Reelideastudio at Cannes Film festival, and he went on to win Best in Show. Another short film Palingenesia has won top prize at 2007 iStock Future Now! Contest. His latest short Josie’s Lalaland was nominated at 2008 New York Festivals, Soho Rushes Short, Brief Encounters as well as many others. He is now being represented by Redbee Media as an commercial director.

Josie’s Lalaland
Animation
Josie’s Lalaland is a depiction of a dying girl’s last wish, which is inspired by Josie Grove’s real story. This HD film is nominated and included in New York Festivals, Brief Encounters, Soho Shots, Annecy 2008, London Animation Festival as well as many others.  The distributions include publishers such as Shots, Stash and Computer Art.
